3 case studies of thiamine clearance of hepatitis B virus

Release date:2016-10-18 08:52:11 From: Browsing times:

The Dartmouth School of medicine scientists reported that 3 of patients with chronic hepatitis B case study showed that thiamine (vitamin B1) can improve liver function and reduce the level of hepatitis B virus in vivo.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a major cause of primary liver cancer and advanced liver disease, but there is very little treatment for the virus. "The drugs currently used to treat hepatitis B are usually more expensive and have side effects," the researchers said. But the indirect evidence for the existence of a relationship between the relative lack of thiamine and chronic hepatitis B infection."
In 3 case studies, the researchers found that if patients with chronic hepatitis B were treated with thiamine daily, so patients with alanine aminotransferase (reaction indicators of liver function) level and the level of HBVDNA will decline, even the hepatitis B virus in vivo can be completely removed.
Statistical analysis showed that in each case, decreased the improvement of liver function and virus levels are directly related with the administration of thiamine.
According to the above results, the researchers suggest that a larger study should be conducted. They think: "if in the larger study, thiamine was confirmed can relieve liver injury induced by hepatitis B virus and clear, so it will be for the treatment of hepatitis B virus infection brings new hope."
